Vindsval was born in Luxembourg in the winter of 1996. The band name originates from northern mythology where the father of winter was called
Vindsval.
We found our first drummer in Shadow, whose main band is the luxembourgish black-metal band
Black Candle. At that time, Mogon played bass in both Vindsval and Black
Candle but was thrown out of both of them because of lack of interest
and musical abilities.
Our first demo "Of Heathen Blood And Soil" was
recorded on the 16th of August 1997 with
Shadow on drums and Mogon still on bass.
Later we decided to move on
to Karlsruhe, the partial home of most of the members.
By this decision
we had to leave Shadow and found our current drummer in Boltthorn,
originally playing in the luxembourgish heavy-metal band Dreams Of Nabid.
With
this line-up we entered the Psycho-Sound-Studios in Karlsruhe from 15th
to 17th of February 1999 to record our debut-CD "Imperium
Grotesque" with Hagalaz also playing bass. Shortly after this we
came to know Might, the only german member of the band, whose
capabilities on bass made him enter Vindsval.
The deal with Skaldic Art Productions gave
us the possibility to re-release "Imperium Grotesque" with a better booklet and under good conditions. |
